Wylie on the mend

Monaghan's Drew Wylie. INPHO

Monaghan defender Drew Wylie could yet feature in this year's championship.

It was initially thought that the tough tackling full back's campaign was over as he suffered what looked like a cruciate injury, but a scan revealed that the Ballybay clubman suffered medial ligament damage to his knee, which has a much shorter recovery time.

The Ulster SFC final against Donegal on Sunday week is set to come too soon for Wylie, but it is hoped that the further Monaghan progress, the better chance he has of returning this year.

Another boost for the Farney men is that Christopher McGuinness is expected to be fully fit for the provincial decider, having overcome an ankle injury sustained in a club game.
