FIXTURES.
The big one this weekend of course is the meeting of Monaghan and Antrim in the Ulster minor football championship with that game taking place in Paric Esler, Newry on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. and a game that everyone hopes will see Monaghan starting out on the path that will lead ultimately to ending the county's Ulster minor football championship famine that now extends to all of 68 years.
On the club front this weekend the games programme in Monaghan moves to the more serious business end of things with the start of the club football championships and three games in the junior series, one on Friday evening, Toome v Sean McDermotts, and two on Sunday afternoon, Blackhill v Killeevan and Oram v Scotstown. It had originally been planned to play two of the championship matches, Oram v Scotstown and Killeevan v Blackhill on Saturday evening but due to the involvement of players from Oram and Blackhill being involved with the county senior hurlers in the Rackard Cup on Saturday afternoon, the games have been put back to 2.00p.m. on Sunday afternoon. It is probably worth noting however that those dual players are being asked to play in a club championship game less than 24 hours after representing the county in the inter county hurling championship something that would be unthinkable for county football players. This weekend also sees a number of games in the reserve football league and one match in the under 21 football league division 2.

Sunday sees a further six games in the reserve football league, Scotstown at home against Monaghan Harps and Magheracloone away against Latton in division 1A, both at 2.00p.m. while in division 1B Tyholland travel to Doohamlet, Truagh are at home against Drumhowan and it's a fairly local affair in Shamrock Park between Cremartin and Ballybay, those three games also at 2.00p.m.. Meanwhile in division 2A on Sunday Emyvale play hosts to Carrickmacross with that one also starting at 2.00p.m.. Wednesday next, May 29th, sees the quarter final meeting in the O'Duffy Cup of Latton and Monaghan Harps in Latton at 7:30 p.m..
