Junior football league round-up
May 23, 2013
There was plenty of action in the junior football league over the past week and the situation on the league table is still very fluid for the most part although Killeevan's torrid time continued, as they suffered their third defeat in eight days when they lost to Killanny by 10 points on Sunday last. That game was to have been played in Killanny but was switched to the Killeevan venue as work at Pairc Eanna is ongoing but even home advantage was not enough to halt the slide. It was a result and a performance too that saw Killeevan team manager Declan McArdle call time on his term with the Sarsfields and with the championship approaching the situation is difficult to say the least. Killeevan also lost their previous game to Eire Og whose game against Scotstown B on Saturday evening last was postponed. The top result of the last round of matches definitely goes to Oram who recorded a six points victory at home over Emyvale. Blackhill continued their winning ways when they had three points to spare at home against Toome in what was a fairly feisty local derby with local pride as much as anything else being at stake. Local pride was also a key motivating factor in the meeting of Sean McDermotts and Aghabog in Threemilehouse where the sides finished all square, 1-10 each in a game that could have gone either way but one where a draw was a fair enough result.
