JUNIOR FOOTBALL LEAGUE ROUND-UP.
All 10 clubs in the junior football league were to have played two matches over the last week but in the final analysis only six of the clubs had two outings.
On Wednesday evening last Blackhill defeated Killeevan in Blackhill, a late goal giving the home team victory after Killeevan had made the running for long periods. Aghabog had three goals to spare over Eire Og in a keenly contested local derby that kept the good attendance well entertained. Emyvale who have Declan Brennan back on board as manager defeated Killanny in Killanny by four points, Toome defeated Scotstown by a point to leave the Blues with just the one point they garnered against Killeevan, and Sean McDermotts had two to spare over Oram in another ding dong battle. Moving to last weekend Killeevan suffered their second reverse in four days when they were well beaten at home by Eire Og, 1-16 to 0-9 the final score there, Blackhill defeated Scotstown by nine points as they begin their preparations for the forthcoming junior football championship and Emyvale kept up their new found wining ways when they defeated Sean McDermotts by two points to move into top spot in the league table for the first time. The other two games on Sunday between Aghabog and Killanny and Toome and Oram were both postponed.
