CLUB SCENE.
It was relatively quiet over the weekend on the club scene in Monaghan as Bank Holiday weekends are by and large kept free from fixtures. There was however a round of matches in the three reserve knockout competitions and one or two other games the chief one of which was the meeting of Rockcorry and Latton in the senior football league on Sunday with Rockcorry picking up their first points of the season with a comfortable victory at home against Latton, 3-17 to 2-9 the final tally. There was a round of games in the senior, intermediate and junior football leagues on Wednesday evening last May 1 that saw victories for Scotstown over Magheracloone, Latton over Clontibret, Castleblayney over Rockcorry, Doohamlet over Carrickmacross and Monaghan Harps over Ballybay in the senior football league. There was one game in the senior football league on Monday evening, a game brought forward from the round of matches that was played last night, Wednesday, in which Monaghan Harps defeated Clontibret by 1-12, to 1-10.
IFL
In the intermediate football league Truagh defeated Tyholland, Inniskeen defeated Drumhowan, Donaghmoyne had a double scores victory over Currin, Clones defeated Aughnamullen and Cremartin and Corduff ended in a draw.
In the junior football league Blackhill defeated Aghabog, Emyvale defeated Eire Og, Killanny defeated Oram while the games between Killeevan and Scotstown and Toome and Sean McDermotts both finished level.
RESERVES.
In the O'Duffy Cup Scotstown defeated Cremartin and Monaghan Harps defeated Magheracloone with Drumhowan conceding to Ballybay.
In the Crawley Cup Carrickmacross defeated Killeevan by five points, Donaghmoyne had a big victory over Truagh, Rockcorry defeated Oram by a goal and Corduff had two points to spare at home over Castleblayney in a high-scoring affair..
In the Reserve Cup 3 Blackhill defeated Eire Og by a point and Clontibret had a comprehensive victory over Killanny while Aghabog were awarded a walk over against Toome.
Meanwhile in the reserve football league division 3 Currin had a big win away against Emyvale on Friday evening last while the under 21 football league division 2 match between Killanny and Magheracloone due to have been played last Saturday was postponed.
HURLING.
There was a round of matches in the Development hurling league on Thursday evening last, May 2nd in which Truagh defeated Carrickmacross in Carrickmacross, Inniskeen had a comprehensive victory over Castleblayney and Monaghan Harps HC defeated Clontibret by 12 points. Meanwhile in the minor hurling league Castleblayney and Clontibret played out a draw, 2-6 apiece and in the under 14 hurling league Monaghan Harps HC had a big win over Castleblayney.
This evening Thursday, May 9th the action is again in the Development Hurling league with the final round of matches and all three games at 7:45 p.m., Castleblayney at home against Carrickmacross which has no bearing on final places, Inniskeen in joint second place away at Monaghan Harps who top the table, and Truagh in joint second with home advantage over Clontibret who are two points behind. There are two games in the minor hurling league on Sunday next, both at 12 p.m. Carrickmacross at home to Castleblayney and Truagh/Harps away against Cootehill Celtic. This weekend also sees Monaghan in action against Tyrone in Nicky Rackard Cup on Saturday afternoon.
FIXTURES.
With the bank holiday weekend out of the way it is back to action in the senior, intermediate and junior football leagues this week where all clubs will in fact play two matches. This Saturday also sees the hosting of the finals of the under 12 Spring league when 36 teams will be involved in 18 finals with the action getting under way at Cloghan at 11.00am and the programme of games completed by 3.00pm.
LEAGUES.
There is a full round of matches in all three leagues at the weekend with all bar one game in the junior football league taking place on Sunday.
SFL.
In the senior football league Latton are at home against Monaghan Harps and Ballybay are away at Magheracloone with both of those games starting at 2 p.m.. The other three games all take place at 4 p.m. with Carrickmacross at home to Rockcorry, Castleblayney taking on Scotstown in St Mary's Park and Doohamlet in the parochial derby against Clontibret in O'Neill Park.

In the intermediate football league on Sunday Donaghmoyne will play Clones in Corduff with that one starting at 1 p.m. and Tyholland take on Inniskeen in Tyholland at 2 p.m.. There are two games at 4 p.m., Currin at home to Cremartin and Aughnamullen away against Truagh with Corduff then taking on Drumhowan in Corduff at the later time of 5 p.m...
JFL.
There is one game in the junior football league on Saturday evening, Killeevan at home against Eire Og in Sarsfield Park at 7 p.m.. The other four games take place on Sunday afternoon, Aghabog at home against Killanny, Scotstown away at Blackhill and Toome taking on Oram in Toome with those three all at 2.00 p.m. while the meeting of Emyvale and Sean McDermotts gets under way in Emyvale at 4 p.m..
