ALLIANZ HURLING LEAGUE DIVISION 3A

Monaghan v Tyrone: Healy Park, Omagh: Sunday, February 17th @ 2.00pm.

This Sunday Monaghan face another testing experience when they travel to Healy Park in Omagh to take on high flying Tyrone, who have all hundred percent record in division three year so far. Monaghan, on the other hand are looking for their first points of the current league, having lost to both Armagh and Roscommon, so a win is vital if they are to move away from the relegation zone.

They are meeting a Tyrone side though who have been impressive in their two games so far, winning by substantial margins against both Lancashire and Louth and manager Trevor Hilliard is under no illusion as to what Monaghan are facing.

"We certainly do need a victory because our first two games were very tight and it's difficult to know how to approach this one because we have only three games left. We have to get a win because with just three games left points are vital if we are to have any chance of making the final.

"A big factor for Sunday will be the Castleblayney players but we'll just have to wait and see what way they come back during the week and we may have to do a bit of mixing and matching maybe, because some of the young lads who came in have done well, particularly against Roscommon and we'll see how we get on on Sunday and then it's all set for the Lancashire game.

"Some of the young lads have shown that they want their position, they want the jersey and we just cant take that off them now, after they put up such a fight for it".

Trevor Hilliard agreed that Tyrone in Healy Park will be hard to beat and that they have a number of very strong, talented players.

"Yes they have a few very good players, they have (Damien) Casey at full forward and they have another wing forward who is a big man at 6'3" and he can possibly do us more damage than Casey at the moment but we'll just have to get the line out right to counter what they have."
