Former GAA director-general Páraic Duffy was a selector with Scotstown as they were crowned Monaghan senior football champions for a fourth year running yesterday.

Conor McCarthy's 37th minute goal proved decisive as An Bhoth overcame Ballybay by 1-13 to 0-13 to maintain their vice-like grip on the Mick Duffy Cup, which is named after Páraic's father.

Manager Kieran Donnelly insisted that Scotstown never get tired of winning as they now turn their thoughts to an Ulster club SFC preliminary clash with Fermanagh kingpins Derrygonnelly Harps on October 21.

"It's great for the younger lads (to win a title). We had four lads that didn't start the final last year," the former Fermanagh player and selector told the Irish Independent.

"They really stepped up and for a club like Scotstown to make the four-in-a-row possible you have to have competition, that was a big thing. Young Ryan (O'Toole) is 18, but he was doing stats for us last year. He was excellent today."
