Bright future

(Oldest Posts First)

After watching the boys in Croker today it was so refreshing seeing the attitude of the young lads in the panel, they have rejuvenated some of the senior players and theres a fearless confidence in their play,

Tobin - looked like he's been playing at this level for years, had John Doyle chasing back after him for the first half, so much so they switched John Doyle onto Keoghan
Keoghan - terrior in the corner, has a great ability to get a hand in and nick the ball
Menton - Another who looks at home on at the top level, O'Connor didn't get a point off him all game
Gillespie - starting to dictate games and travel with the ball, with all the attention on Graham Reilly he is relishing the space
Graham Reilly - what more can you say about this lad, top quality in all aspects he's an all star in waiting
Damien Carroll - has an arrogance about him and plays with no fear what so ever, takes on his man at every choice
Alan Forde - what a little terror, tough as nails and has the speed to create and win frees, does his defensive work too

Thats 7 lads in and around 21 years of age in the starting 15 today and theres more to come from them, they played a seasoned Kildare team and dominated their men

I agree that the young players are very exciting but lets not forget that structurally there are major issues we need to address. Lets use the feel good feeling to capitalise now and not let it paper over the cracks. Sweeping change needed at board level. Up de Royal. The flights home are booked !

I am an extremely proud meath man today, I dont know if we will go on to beat the dubs but what I do know is that every meath player played with absolute pride, passion and hunger which is what earning your jersey is all about.
They need to keep things tight over the next few weeks, do their home work and give it 110% against the Dubs who will be fired up after a terrible display yesterday.
Every one has been talkin about only one or two players mainly the two reillys being the only star performances over the previous games but I was delighted to see a full team stand up to the task and take the game to kildare.
Its crazy everyone sayin here how bad kildare were, when your playin against a team like meath yesterday full of runnin and hunger you will be made to look very ordinary and thats a credit to the players, well done all and best of luck, get stuck in and give the dubs a real good go.

Said it awhile back the future looks bright. But let's not put too much pressure n young lads shoulders. It be a lot to ask to win anything this year. But within next 5 I can see a couple of leinsters and maybe the holy grail itself.

I think its mad that not alot has been said about us missing alot of key players through injury who would have been starting yesterday if they wernt injured. if this was dublin, cork, kerry who had all the injuires we have but still managed to beat a good kildare team and get to a provincial final everyone would be giving them alot of credit and saying there is great talent in the county etc. im very happy with how the younger lads played yesterday and i hope they can be consitent for us. i can see these players showing no fear against Dublin and going out and giving it everything.

All of the young lads played well for Meath and that is the reason they won the game. However on the Hoganstand team of the week, comparing Damian Carroll to Trevor Giles is more than a little far-fetched.Lets keep grounded.
