Annual Awards

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I suppose Cilles won the Young player and Public Relations. Sure probably couldn't give them all the awards. Am sure they are very happy with their year. Also won ladies junior player of the year too at the weekend I believe. The two awards are great honours for the club and the two lads personally.

hahaha lol!

In fairness D/ASH were one game away from winning everything.

Don/ash won
A league and B league div 1
Feis cup
U21 championship
Got to a senior championship final
And their ladies team won their league

Don't know if cilles topped that. They also came 3rd from the bottom in the league, losing 9 games.

In fairness I do think if you asked any D/A player to swap a League and Feis Cup medal for a Meath Championship medal AND a Leinster Championship medal they just might take it !!!!

The Cilles won Corn na Boinne, Championship and Leinster (a clean sweep of Intermediate titles and only Meath club with Leinster title). They were only intermediate team in Division 1 so finishing where they did for first ever season in division 1 was impressive enough. Ladies won the Junior Championship and I think the juvenile teams may have got to the finals of their competitions winning U12,13, 16 and Minor Championship.

I suppose the thing that will annoy them is that it was their first county championship at intermediate and minor for a while. Anyway as I said a few times on this thread I don't think they will be too worried at all - won't be crying over their Christmas Dinner as one poster said. Ashbourne had great year and I suppose Ratoath and Kiltale hurling achievements need to be acknowledged as well given the year that is in it for hurling . Well done to Grainne, James and Keith on your individual awards

For an intermediate championship medal? I doubt they would and a Leinster intermediate is worth very little in my opinion. Their second team competes at this level and are one of the strongest teams in it. Its nice to win something alright but winning the intermediate means your the 18th best team in Meath and gives you the right to compete with the big teams only

I think most of the players would to be fair.

But it shows how consistent they were in every comp this year, very difficult to do that..

I suppose Ash achieved alot at Senior and maybe that swings it,but really will Colmcilles care? I doubt that, they had a great year and it is great to see any Meath club do well.So huge respect and cudos to Colmcilles too.

Maestro- I would agree with you on that and add that the second biggest prize is to get to a senior championship final. Now winning any competition is difficult. Winning the junior championship for a small rural club is an excellent achievement. On the Cilles, they have quite a large catchment and lot of good young players so I expect that if the can harness all that going into senior there is no good reason why the cannot be one of the top clubs inside the county and that again will be good for the county also. There is little between the top 5 or 6 teams in the senior championship and I expect next year to be one of the more interesting championship. The best of luck to the Cilles and Royaldunne you are in a good position club wise next year- ye will have 2 clubs to support in the county and another one to support in your adopted county.

i hope the cilles do well in senior but i cant see it. Blackhall beat them well the other night and Cilles could not cope with the physicalcality. The will get better but they are small in stature and the jump could be very big for them
