Drumconrath made it to the semi-final of the IFC for the first time since 1998 with a deserved three point win over St. Colmcilles. Drumconrath 0-12 St Colmcilles 0-9 Colmcilles opened the scoring with an Enda Grogan free. Points from play on five and seven minutes from Alan Byrne and Ollie McMahon settled Drumconrath but two pointed frees from Ciaran Kelly pushed Cilles ahead as both sides fought to deal with the slippery conditions. A free from Leighton Irwin levelled the game but two points from Kelly and Damien O'Brien both from play seemed to give St Colmcilles the advantage as half time approached. Drumconrath found another gear with Wayne Reilly hitting over from 55 metres and Irwin pointed a free after good work from Stephan Crosby. The sides went in level but Dumconrath led the wides tally eight to four and suffered a severe blow as captain and goalkeeper Sean Kane had departed injured after just 6 minutes. Drumconrath opened well on top in the second period but their wides tally rose with four in the first five minutes and where Gary McCloskey showed a clean pair of heels to the Drumconrath defence to score a great point from out on the left it was felt that the Drumconrath wide tally would come to haunt them. Jamie Myles and Terry Skelly began to stamp their class on the game as Alan Byrne pointed after a late tackle on Myles and when Myles himself strode forward to point Drumconrath's confidence lifted. Stephan Crosby pointed after a good run by Skelly to leave Drums 2 up as we entered the last quarter. Cille's then enjoyed a period of dominance as John McKenna and two Ciaran Kelly frees edged them a point ahead with just five minutes to go but a good point on the run from Wayne Reilly another from substitute Padraig McMahon and Myles again seemed to guarantee victory for the Reds. St Colmciles pushed forward and county minor Graham Reilly had a goal chance but stand in 'keeper Sean Reilly pulled off a good save and from the clearance Paddy Reilly notched the final score of the game.
