Nobber 0-10 Ballinabrackey 0-9
Nobber qualified for the quarter final following this dour IFC preliminary quarter final encounter at Skyrne on Saturday evening.
A late punched Karl Casserly point was enough to get Nobber home in this tough game.
Over the hour both teams will lament missed goal chances but it was Nobber who finished strongest and should have won with a bit more to spare.
The closeness of the match was reflected by the fact that the scores were tied on eight occasions with Nobbers half time lead of 6 points to 4 being the biggest margin between them at any stage during the game.
Karl Casserly (3), Darren Lambe with two excellent points from play and Sean Meade accounted for Nobbers first half tally.
Ballinabrackey were the better team in the 3rd quarter while Nobber only scored 2 pointed frees in that period.
A goal either way would have decided the issue and oppurtunities arose for both sides but it was Nobber who dug deepest with a great equalising point from Thomas Murtagh and Casserly's late fisted effort that won it for the north Meath outfit in the end.
They now go on to play Ballinlough in the quarter final next weekend.
