Ráth Tó 1-14 An Scrín 0-11

Ratoath overcame the spirited resistance of Skryne in this entertaining game played in perfect weather conditions in Ashbourne on Sunday evening. This was a game that was evenly contested for the most part with the Ratoath men gradually wearing their opponents down in carving a 6 point winning margin. 

The game began with Skryne very much on the front foot and with inter county star,Paddy O'Rourke accurate from frees they were 5 points to 2 ahead after 10 minutes. They were still ahead  6 points to 4 with 20 minutes gone with Eamon Wallace the only scorer for Ratoath with 2 points each from play and placed balls. That statistic soon changed with Conor Rooney and Bobby O'Brien both getting excellent points but to the credit of their opponents Ratoath failed to cancel out Skryne's lead as they continued to maintain their 2 point cushion right up until half time.

After the interval it was Skryne who made the early running as they continued to frustrate Ratoath and went 11 points to 8 up with 5 minutes gone in the second half. This though was as as good as it got for them as Terry Mac Ginnis's charges dominated the remainder of the game. Keeper Shane Duffy (45), Eoghan MacMahon, O'Brien and Connell Ahearne all slotted over points and Wallace continued to be unerring from frees Ratoath finished much the stronger of the 2 sides. The decisive score proved to be the well taken goal from Joey Wallace after a pass from MacMahon left him with just the goal keeper to roubd and slot into an empty net . All in all a solid 4th consecutive  win for the Ratoath men who had already qualified for the quarter finals and now look forward to the final round qualifier against Dunboyne before the knock out stages begin.
