Kilmainham 2-13 Castletown 0-12

Castletown's chances of reaching the knock out stages took a dent with this seven point defeat to Kilmainham in Moynalty on Friday evening. Tommy Smith opened the scoring with a point on three minutes but Kilmainham scored 1-2 to lead by four with ten minutes on the clock. Castletown levelled the match with  four points in a row one each from Kevin Ross,  James Finnerty,  Tommy Smith and Declan Cribbin. Kilmainham regained the lead with another point but Tommy Smith hit two more points for Castletown for the lead to change hands again. Kilmainham levelled again but Kevin Ross tagged on another point in the second minute of injury time only for  Kilmainham to score the last point of the opening half to level affairs at 1-5 to 0-8  at the break.

With 47 minutes gone in the match Castletown led by one point with three points in a row from Kevin Ross  and one for  second half substitute Shane  Farrelly. But that proved to be Castletowns last score and the winners hit 1-5 without reply to score a comprehensive and well deserved seven point win.
