Donaghmore/Ashbourne 4-6 Walterstown 1-14
Donaghmore /Ashbourne survived a late Walterstown rally to hang on for a one point lead in this entertaining Intermediate Championship game at Slane on Sunday. Two first half goals from Kevin Fenton and a converted penalty by Steven Carton after the Walterstown goalkeeper was black carded for a foul on Niall Farrell lay the foundation for the eventual winners half time lead of 3 - 4, to 1 - 7.
Things got better for Don/Ash immediately after the break when a Sam Benville point was followed by a fourth goal, scored by Niall Farrell who unfortunately hurt himself in the process and was replaced by James Crumlish. Amazingly the south Meath side only scored one more point for the remainder of the game, a Sam Benville free, but stoic defending particularly from the impressive Niall Kavanagh and Shane Rae limited Walterstown to just seven points as Donaghmore Ashbourne held on to record a well deserved win.
