Meath 4-28 Wicklow 0-13

The home team played with the breeze in the opening half and held a commanding 2-18 to 0-5 lead at the end on the first 30 minutes.

The Royals were 1-7 to 0-0 ahead before Wicklow opened their account through Padraig O'Toole.

The Meath goal was finished to the Wicklow net by midfielder Darren Hennessy. Corner forward Mickey Mullen hit eight points in the opening half. Jacob Ryan got in for the winners second goal just before the break and Meath took a commanding 19 point lead to the dressing rooms.

Wicklow staged a mini revival in the opening minutes of the second half with quick points from Jonathan O'Neill and Paudie McGing. Meath keeper Aaron Dunne also produced a fine save from a penalty. That revival was quickly extinguished by Meath when Ryan got his second and Meath's 3rd goal. Wicklow were reduced to 14 men when Ian Clancy was dismissed by referee Sean Stack. O'Neill hit another brace for the Garden County before Meath took over for the remainder of the game.

Team captain Jamie Leavy got the winners 4th goal and a string of points from Brian Dowling (3), Evan Fitzgerald (2), Ryan and Nicky Potterton gave Meath a comfortable win.
