Donaghmore-Ashbourne made light work of Seneschalstown in this hoganstand.com SFC quarter-final at Pairc Tailteann early on Sunday afternoon.

Seneschalstown entered the fray on the back of five wins from five in Group A. Donaghmore-Ashbourne's was more patchy in Group B - three wins, two losses.

Sean Kelly's men set down an early marker, which sustained them against Seneschalstown's best spell - three points in two second quarter minutes.

From Michael Deegan's third minute point, Donaghmore-Ashbourne led to the finish with the gap ever widening.

Dylan Brady capped another good showing with 1-3 from play while Conor Carton toe-poked the second goal in the 39th minute after Brady's initial attempt was blocked.

That left it 2-8 to 0-5 before Donaghmore-Ashbourne closed in on a last four place with eight further points.

Seneschalstown's sole second-half score came from Bryan Clarke's close range free that cut the gap to four in the 32nd minute.

Dylan Brady responded with one of the scores of the game from out on the right. It was triple scores, 2-9 to 0-5, when Daragh McGovern pointed in the 41st mintue.

The 2014 runners-up were well on course for the semis and used their full quota of subs in the final quarter with one of them Ciaran Ellis getting on the scoresheet.

The outcome was settled before Seneschalstown lost corner-back Paul Carey, who was sent off in the 41st minute having picked up a black card to go along with a yellow one acquired earlier.

Donaghmore-Ashbourne were first to show with 1-3 without reply on the board in the opening 11 minutes. James Colgan and Andrew Tormey created the opening for Dylan Brady to net at the town end six minutes in.

Michael Deegan (free), Brady and Paul Gilligan also pointed for Sean Kelly's men during this phase. Seneschalstown realigned the left side of their defence with James Byrne and Colin Gleeson swapping places.

Bryan Sheridan posted Seneschalstown's first score, a 13th minute 45. Donaghmore-Ashbourne replied with the next two points with Michael Deegan finishing a slick move before Andrew Tormey added one to leave it 1-5 to 0-1 midway through the half.

Seneschalstown's best spell in the first-half occurred just after the 20th minute with three points in quick succcession: Two Brian Sheridan frees and Joe Sheridan (now operating at full-forward) effort from play.

Michael Deegan (free) posted the last score of the opening half to leave it 1-6 to 0-4 at the break. Bryan Clarke was unfortunate to see his stoppage time 45-metre free hit the right side upright at the old swimming pool.

From the restart, Donaghmore-Ashbourne, with a slight elemental advantage outscored Seneschalstown by 1-10 to 0-1 to secure a semi-final date with neighbours Skryne.
