Extra-time goals from Padraig McKeever and Mark McCabe were instrumental as Simonstown Gaels booked their place in the last four of the hoganstand.com Meath SFC at the expense of a fancied St Peter's, Dunboyne side in Trim yesterday.

The two teams finished level - 1-14 apiece - at the end of normal time but Colm O'Rourke's men found an extra gear in the additional period to outscore their opponents by 2-2 to 0-3.

The Trim scoreboard read Simonstown 3-16, Dunboyne 1-17 at the end of an absorbing encounter which was played in front of a large attendance.

The team in sky blue issued an early statement of intent when racing into an 0-8 to 0-1 lead but Dunboyne finished the first half strongly and three unanswered points saw them trail by 0-6 to 0-9 at the halfway stage.

The Conor O'Donoghue coached Dunboyne continued where they had left off on the resumption and were back on level terms by the 42nd minute.

Their momentum was halted, however, when a fisted Mark McCabe goal edged the team in sky blue back in front but the signs were ominous for O'Rourke's charges when St Peter's full-forward Michael Dunne finished to back of their net with six minutes left on the clock.

As events transpired, Simonstown substitute Mickey Brennan sent the last eight clash to extra-time when converting a late equalising free and McKeever's goal in the first period of extra-time put them back in pole position.

McCabe then put the end result beyond any doubt when showing good composure before netting his second three pointer of the contest.

Simonstown now await the winners of today's quarter-final, Na Fianna v Gaeil Colmcille, in the last four while Donaghmore/Ashbourne and Seneschalstown will meet to determine who plays Skryne at the penultimate stage.
