On this day 26 years ago, September 16th 1990, Meath ended their 33-year wait for an All-Ireland minor football title.

The Paul Kenny-managed side beat Kerry by 2-11 to 2-9 in the decider to get their hands on the Tom Markham Cup for only the second time in the county's history.

Unfortunately, the Royals missed out on the double at Croke Park as the seniors suffered a two-point reverse at the hands of Cork later on.

The team on the day was: Conor Martin; Vincent Ryan, Enda McManus, Noel Collier; Ronan McGrath, Graham Geraghty, Thomas Hanley; Jason Hendrick, John McCarthy; Tony Byrne, David Martin, Brendan Kealy; Hugh Carolan, Terry Connor, Cathal Sheridan. Sub: Conor Macken for V Ryan.
