IFC: Castletown bow out

Castletown bowed out of this year's IFC in the final group game against Trim  in Pairc Tailtean on Sunday.

On a match where the winners progressed to the knock out stages Castletown drew first blood with Kevin Ross scoring on 2 minutes. It took Trim until the 4th minute  to score and they got 2 in quick succession to go a point ahead. Darren Finney hit Castletowns 2nd on 6 minutes to level the game and with 8 minutes on the clock Kevin Ross scored again only for Trim to level affairs again. Robbie Hoey scored his only point of the match on the 9th minute for Castletown and then they didn't score for 10 minutes until Shane Hoey scored their 5th and last point of the first half on 19 minutes. Trim scored again on 20 minutes and took the lead in the 21st minute which they never relinquished for the rest of the game.

The eventual winners then came to grips with the game and scored 4 point in a row to lead by 5 with 37 minutes on the clock. After a gap of 22 minutes from Castletowns last score Darren Finney led a mini revilal when he scored a point on 41 minutes followed by points on 46 minutes from James Finnerty and on 48 minutes from Kevin Ross which turned out to be the last score of Castletowns intermediate campaign for 2016. Trim again took control and  scored 6 points in a row to progress to the knock out stages.

Castletown now have a Corn na Boinne final against St.Colmcilles at a later date   to try to gain some concellation for today's defeat.
