St Ultans 0-11 Oldcastle 2-16

St Ultans couldn't follow up on last week's victory over Longwood when falling by double scores to an unbeaten Oldcastle side who scored all but a point from play at a breezy Páirc Tailteann on Sunday afternoon.

St Ultans opened the scoring through Ronan Breslin after a minute with a well worked score with the aid of the strong wind.

Breslin scored again after 9mins to cut the deficit back to a point, however the concession of a goal on 25mins and only a Mark Allen point on the stroke of half time left St Ultans with a mountain to climb as they trailed by 0-3 to 1-6 at the break.

Martin Dolan and Robert Duffy were introduced at the interval and a point from Breslin on 36mins reduced the gap to 7points.

Oldcastle kicked on with 4 more points before scores from Duffy and a brace from Paul Murray threatened a glimmer of hope, but another goal from the winners saw the game end as a contest with late points from Gearoid Rennicks, Allen, Breslin and Cian Rennicks put some gloss on the scoreboard on a disappointing day for St Ultans.

Best for St Ultans were Declan Ball, Sean O'Hoireabhard, Kevin Rogers and Ronan Breslin.

St Ultans : Cian Farnan, Darren Mallon, Sean O'Hoireabhard, Declan Ball, Eoghan Monaghan, Jason Bennett, Conor Smyth, Declan Galligan, Gearoid Rennicks 0-1, Christian Byrne, Kevin Rogers, Paul Murray 0-2, Shane Mulroe, Mark Allen 0-2, Ronan Breslin 0-4
