Kildalkey 7-11 Naomh Moninne (Lu) 4-14

Goals, cards and hailstones on an early Sunday morning in Dunganny for the U16-A HL Finals.

Naomh Moninne (Lu) started strongly with an early goal from danger man centre-forward Darren Geoghegan.  Kildalkey responded well with a bullet of a goal from full forward Conor Fitzgerald and two points from play from the Village men's #11 Nicholas Potterton.   Kevin Warren  and Niall McNally hit the net in the first half for Kildalkey with strong defending from Sean Colhoun and Martin Browne in Kildalkey's back lines holding the Louth men to points until five minutes before half time when Naomh Moninne's full forward struck for their second goal.  Potterton responded magnificently with a cutting run from midfield that finished in the net.  Hailstones, wind and the half-time whistle came : Kildalkey 4-6, N-Moninne 2-10.

Kildalkey started strongly in the second half with Fitzgerald pouncing early on for two stinging goals.  Kildalkey lost their captain Ross Thompson to a shoulder injury while Potterton kept the scoreboard ticking over with 5 scores from 5 frees.  Naomh Moninne ramped up their game in the last quarter with two quick goals to push Kildalkey hard up until the last play.  Fitzgerald struck for his fourth goal  and the Shield was well and truly on it's way back to the Village.
