In his report to the annual convention of the Meath County Committee chairman Conor Tormey said that after a number of false dawns on the issue of Pairc Tailteann in the last decade, "plans are now well advanced to make the county ground one of the best."
"Our infrastructure committee development committee, headed by two accomplished men in Noel Dempsey and Liam Mulvihill, have shown their expertise in delivering on Dunganny.
"They are now totally focussed on Pairc Tailteann and what can be achieved in creating a top-class inter-county ground at the venue. The year of 2016 will see a big movement on this project and I look forward to plans being forward during the year.
"I also want to thank Central and Leinster Councils for their commitment to Meath GAA both in terms of their support for Dunganny and their positive statements at the official opening where they spoke of working with us in the future," he added.
The chairman said that 2015 was a year of accomplishment for Meath GAA and suggested that 2016 is set to be one of further growth and renewed optimism.
Regarding the Dunganny centre, Tormey said: "It is not every year that we unveil such a multi-million facility and I want to acknowledge what a momentous achievement it was to realise the dream and see the best modern facilities unveiled at Dunganny on All-Ireland football final weekend.
"We have turned a corner in Meath GAA where are now providing the very best for our inter-county teams in order to afford them the best preparations for the pursuit of honours.
"But these facilities are also being used by the most valued part of our association - our clubs. So it was fitting that so many young children from our various clubs were present on the day of the official opening to compete in special underage games."
