O'Rourke added to growing Meath injury list

Shane O'Rourke gains possession for Simonstown against Blackhall Gaels during the hoganstand.com Meath SFC game at Summerhill.

Meath's injury problems continue to mount ahead of their Leinster SFC quarter-final against Wicklow.

Shane O'Rourke underwent an operation this week after breaking a bone in his hand during Simonstown's Meath SFC victory over Blackhall Gaels last Friday night.

He is expected to be sidelined for up to six weeks which rules him out of the Garden County clash as well as a potential semi-final against the winners of Westmeath and Wexford.

It's a similar injury to the ones suffered by Michael Newman and Bryan Menton, who are both rated extremely doubtful for Sunday week, while goalkeeper Paddy O'Rourke and midfielder Conor Gillespie sat out the recent club championship action because of knee injuries.

It also remains to be seen if former captain Kevin Reilly will be fit to play a part due to an ongoing hip complaint.
