Ráth Tó 6-11
Trim 0-12
Ratoath secured a comprehensive 17 point win over Trim in this first round Intermediate football clash played in Martry.
They got off to what looked like the best possible start with a goal in the 2nd minute from Bobby O'Brien after good work from Joey Wallace. That said Trim soon got into their running and with their midfield in the ascendancy they notched over a series of points and after 20 minutes were a point ahead 0-6 to 1-2. From then on it was all Ratoath with a second goal a carbon copy of the first with Wallace unselfishly passing to O'Brien to bat it home. Further points from Emmet Boyle,Bryan McMahon followed before a third goal, this time , from Eamonn Wallace on the stroke of half time put Fergal Power's charges well in command at the break (3-5 to 0-6).
Ratoath carried on from where they were left off in the first half with first another goal from the boot of Eamonn Wallace after a well worked team move. Further goals from Gareth Rooney and O'Brien ensued to put the game well out of Trim's reach. To the opposition's credit they kept going until the finish , tagging over some quality scores of their own though they were denied a consolation goal with a couple of excellent saves from goalkeeper , Andrew Smith. Best for Ratoath were Joey & Eamonn Wallace, Bobby O'Brien,Conor McGill and Emmet Boyle.
