Dunshaughlin 1-11 Trim 2-6 Dunshaughlin won their third Meath senior football championship in as many years after defeating challengers Trim in the decider at Pairc Tailteann on Sunday November 10th. However it was Trim that stole the initiative early on after Michael Lowther punched home the games opening goal after only six minutes. Indeed Dunshaughlin didn't scored until the 12th minute, when Martin Reilly found the range from a free. But the defending champions dominated the remainder of the first half and led 0-6 to 1-1 at the break. Minutes after the restart Dunshaughlin's Trevor Dowd struck what appeared to be the killer goal, after he capitalised on Mark Daly's block to tap home. Both sides were reduced to 14 men after seven minutes of the second half with Martin Reilly and Trim's Kevin Walsh receiving their marching orders. Thus began a Trim revival when an optimistic long-range free from Darren Fay dropped into the Dunshaughlin net, after it deflected in off the hands of defender Michael McHale. A point by Paul Gilsenan drew the sides level with three minutes left but it was short lived as Niall Kelly restored Dunshaughlin's lead with a marvellous sideline kick.
