Ratoath made it 4 wins from 5 championship outings ensuring they go on the knockout stages with this 14 point win over Clann Na nGael. The match began with the Athboy men making the better start and were 3 points to 1 in front after 10 minutes. The turning point came in the 15th minute when Mark Daly pounced for a goal following good work from Joey Wallace whose initial shot was blocked by the goalkeeper.

After that they were never headed though that said there was still only a kick of a ball between them when Wallace scored his team's second goal on the stroke of half time. This left Fergal Power's men 2-5 to 0-6 ahead at the break and it wasn't long before Wallace struck again for another goal following a good interchange of passes with Bryan McMahon.At 3-8 to 0-7 the game looked all but over with 20 minutes to go but in fairness Clann Na nGael kept battling and were rewarded for their efforts with a goal in the 45th minute of the game which left 7 points between the sides. Any hope of an unlikely comeback though was dispelled when they were reduced to 14 men with a red card shown to one of their players.After that Ratoath completely dominated and scored 7 unanswered points to run out comfortable winners. Best for Ratoath were Brian Power, Cian O'Brien, Joey Wallace, Bryan McMahon and Daragh McGill

Ratoath took the points home from Walterstown against Clann na nGael on Sunday evening in this intermediate championship game.  Although Clann na nGael were well beaten on the day they put in a very spirited display and it was a lot better than their last outing against Ballivor. Just before half time Ratoath got a decisive goal and they went into lead at the break by 2-4 to 0-6.  The Athboy/Rathcairn lads kept going to the bitter end, even though the result was never in doubt in that second half, they can take heart from this.  Clan na nGael now play Ballinlough next week in a preliminary quarter final.
