The greater accuracy of the Syddan forwards condemned Na Fianna to defeat in their first championship game of the season. Syddan 0-11 Na Fianna 0-9 Syddan put in a very strong second half to get the better of Na Fianna in this closely contested game.  Na Fianna got off to the better start and were leading 0-5 to 0-1 before Syddan scored the last three points of the half to leave the score at the break 0-5 to  0-4 in Na Fianna's favour.  Na Fianna faded around the middle of the field as the game went on and the Syddan forwards were more adept at taking their chances than were their opponents.
