Castletown advanced to the knockout stages of the Meath IFC with a fine win over Ballinlough at Carnaross.

Catletown led at the break 1-7 to 0-5. Darren Finney opened the scoring. Peadar Byrne equalised for Ballinlough. Francis Hoey regained the lead for Castletown but scores from Byrne and Kevin Devine gave Tommy Shines men the lead for the only time in the game. Donal Curtis'charges upped the anti and a brace of points from Kevin Ross and Barry Smith along with a fine effort from Tommy Smith put the winners 0-7 to 0-3 up after twenty minutes. Damien Ginnitty got the games only goal on the stroke of half time as Castletown went in at the break five points to the good.
Scores were at a premium in the second half. Byrne (3) and Devine accounted for the Ballinlough tally. Kevin Ross, who gave the Ballinlough defence a torrid time all evening got his third point. Kenny Smith, Finney and midfielder Shane hoey got in on the scoring act as Castletown booked their place in the quarter finals.
