St Patrick's news and notes

The Flora Mini Marathon has been the focus of some mothers for the past few months as they have been circuit training and jogging to get ready for this challenge.
The Mammies are getting fit and raising funds for the Ladies Football teams. Most are Mothers of our ladies football players, some are not, but have come together to have some crack, get fit and raise funds by doing the Flora Mini Marathon on the bank holiday weekend. Hat's off to David Weldon who took up the baton to train the ladies twice a week for the past 10 weeks or so, I know that the ladies have really enjoyed it. Next target the 'MARATHON' !!!! Get behind the ladies, show your support - yet another first for the club !
The Ladies teams are also running a 'Who wants to be a bainisteoir' competition starting on June 15th- so it promises to be a very interesting one, keeping the teams together till the later leagues start.
The Senior Footballers have also being busy organising the Annual Golf Classic and have ear marked Friday 12th July, 2013 as the date and this year will take place in Hollywood Lakes. Further details will be issued in due course so for the time being MARK THE CALENDAR !
Great excitement in the club this week, with the Pat's Club Lotto bring won. It was last June since the last Jackpot win and the lucky winner was Bernie Martin from Gormanston. So the heartiest of congratulations to Bernie. Jackpot back to €1,000 again from next week. The lucky numbers for Bernie were 3,5,10,12.
After recent Underage wins for the U14 Ladies team and the U16 Boys teams, there is a great feeling about the club. Also coming to light is some of our underage players prowess further afield. Aaron Kenna, Andrew Kirk and Michael McNulty- all pupils of St Oliver's Community College in Drogheda, all received Player of the Year awards for Gaelic Football at U14, U16 and Senior level respectively- a clean sweep for Pat's boys.
In St Mary's Diocesan School, Padraig Nulty ( St Pats U14 &16 player) was part of the All Ireland B Basketball team that won in the past few weeks. The team is coached by his older brother Liam, who plays with St Pat's Minor team.
The Over 35's group are in their third week and by all accounts are flying along, though rumour had it that there were a few very sore bodies the morning after the training sessions. Needless to say it didn't put anyone off and they were back for more the following week. They meet every Wednesday night @8.30pm if any newcomers want to come along.
