Gaeil Colmcille's unbeaten run continued last Monday night when they visited St Patricks, and came away with a comfortable victory.

The Gaeils started well and aided with a strong breeze, led by (1-09) to (0-05) at half time.

In the second half Ryan McManus got his second goal four minutes from the restart, and got his third just two minutes later.

ST PATS REPORT

St Patricks 2-10
Gaeil Colmcille 5-16

Gaeil Colmcilles maintained their position as table toppers yet again with four wins out of four, their exhibition well out scoring St Pat's on the night. The result did nothing to improve the Pat's position, leaving them with only one win so far in the league.

Séamus Byrne in goals for St Pat's made some much needed saves, but he could not stem the red tide, that overtook the Pats in the latter half, who blitzed the Pat's defence scoring a staggering four goals and seven points.

The first half saw both sides' trade two points initially in the opening play. Gaeil Colmcilles having sent numerous wides early on, had found their range and added five points in as many minutes. They rounded off their spree with a goal, leaving the Pat's floundering. Kieran Russell scored a much needed point. O'Flaherty and Calvey pointed too but still trailed by seven points at the break.

Gaeil Colmcilles seemed not to have drawn breath at half time, with an immediate goal rattling the Pat's net from the resumption of the game. A point shortly followed with another to sandwich it. Calvey pointed again but Colmcilles were wreaking havoc and two more goals followed one after the other, putting the outcome in little doubt. Both sides traded points again, Conor Garvey making a run on goal, breaching the Colmcilles defence and raised the green flag for the first time for the Pat's. A point and a goal from Adam Mulvanny, took the raw look off the scoreboard but Gaeil Colmcille did not relent, adding another six points before the full time whistle. The last kick of the ball saw Byrne deny Gaeil Colmcilles another goal, of little consolation to the home side at that point.
