Rathkenny's Richie Timmons
Na Fianna made the long journey to Rathkenny and left empty handed after an exciting B league Division 3 encounter played on Monday May 20th.

Rathkenny 1-12
Na Fianna 1-09

Rathkenny opened the scoring with a free inside 60 seconds through Darren Barron. The visitors levelled matters on three minutes. Ross Gore finished with a great score after a surging run to put the hosts back in front on seven minutes. The visitors then sent over the next three points in a six minute spell before Stephen Crosbie cut the deficit after a mazy run and landed Rathkennys third point on twenty two minutes. Colm Gore levelled matters again with five minutes of the half remaining. Na Fianna edged back in front with a quick brace before Barry Carolan left the minimum between the sides at the break.

Full forward Richie Timmons scored 1-1 in the opening three minutes of the second half. The goal followed a high centre towards the square which he caught and despatched to the net. Three further points from Michael Macken, Darren Barron (free) and substitute Eoghan Lynch with a fine point off his left boot extended the lead to leave it 1-9 to 0-6 at the three quarter stage. Na Fianna never gave up and to their credit scored an unanswered 1-02 during the next ten minutes to leave the bare minimum between the sides going into the final five minutes. Rathkenny buckled down once more and in one final push sent over three points through the hard working Ross Gore, Darren Barron (free) and a long range Derek Smith point to put four between the sides going into injury time. Na Fianna sent over a final point but could not get the goal needed to level matters.
