BFL5: Goals win it for Drumconrath
May 21, 2013

Alan McEvoy was injured for Drumconrath
Drumconrath 2-7
Moylagh 0-12
Drumconrath travelled to Moylagh for this top of the table clash in the B League Division 5 game and made the decision to rest 15 of the players who had played the previous day in the A League win over Drumbaragh. Indeed it is a long time since Drums could plan to do this which shows that there is great interest and activity in the Club at the moment.
A good first half display again laid a decent foundation and again a good spread of scorers proved vital. Moylagh had a man sent off after 10 minutes and veteran Leighton Irwin netted in the 12th minute and points from Conor Martin, Daniel Myles and two from Irwin had the visitors 1-4 to 0-4 after twenty minutes. Three late points in the half from Kevin Dardis and raiding half backs David Hickey and Conor O'Halloran gave them a six point cushion at the break.
Terance Halpenny in his come back game after 3 years due a couple of bad knee injuries had a solid outing at Centre Half Back and with Aiden Tighe and Tomas Conlon doing well around the middle it was felt that despite the strong breeze Drums should hold out and when Kevin Dardis fired a goal on 35 minutes to give Drums a nine point lead the points looked fairly secure.
But that was the last score Drumconrath managed as Moylagh staged a great come back to hit 8 unanswered points to narrow the gap to a single point and despite having a few chances to level some decent Drumconrath defending ensured that they always shot under pressure and that is never easy.
An injury to Alan McEvoy lining out in goals for his only his second comeback game was the only black mark on what was a good couple of days for the club/
