There was no separating Carnaross and Clann na nGael in a game where the sides were level on six occasions.

The first-half was a very tight and low-scoring affair despite four scores coming in the opening eight minutes. Michael Brogan gave Carnaross an early lead with a point in the first minute but Clann na nGael replied with a free two minutes later. John L McGee edged Carnaross in front once more before Clann na nGael equalised in the eighth minutes. There was no further score for the next eighteen minutes but Clann na nGael did have a goal chance which was denied by a fantastic block from corner-back Ian Donoghue. Peter Mullan put Carnaross in front once more but Clann na nGael levelled once more on the stroke of half-time to leave the sides level on 0-3 each.

Clann na nGael took the lead for the first time just after the restart and doubled their advantage a minute later. Carnaross battled back and points from John Carpenter and John L McGee had the sides level once more. Carnaross were back in front at the midway stage of the half when substitute Charles Brogan pointed from play but once again this score was cancelled out when Clann na nGael responded immediately. With the game going into the closing stages Carnaross looked to be finishing strongest when two excellent points from John L McGee in the space of a minute gave the home side a two point advantage with five minutes remaining. However, Clann na nGael battled back to kick the two last scores of the game through Jamie Shaw and Shane McAnarney to leave it all square at the final whistle.

Best for Clan Na Gael were Oran Fitzpatrick, Ronan McDonagh, Jamie Shaw and Shane McAnarney.
