May 17, 2013

Summerhill's Sean Dalton
Summerhill 3-8
Seneschalstown 1-10
A late second half goal from Sean Dalton secured a four point win for Summerhill over Seneschalstown in this sixth round game played in Summerhill on Thursday night.
Seneschalstown had got to within one of the home sides lead, 2-8 to 1-10 when Dalton struck after a fisted pass from Barry Dardis. Summerhill held out for their third win out of six in the campaign.
Seneschalstown started brighter with points from their number 12 and a free scored by Brian Sheridan. Brian Ennis got his sides opening score from a free.
Summerhill's goal came from Bobby Lyons. Lyons hit a shot with his right foot which hit the crossbar, when he received the ball moments later he finished to the corner with his stronger left foot.
Summerhill's second goal came when Dardis fist passed towards the onrushing Justin Ennis who helped the ball find the net. It appeared that a Seneschalstown got the final touch to the ball before it ended up in the net.
The first half saw some impressive point taking. Seneschalstown's number 7 ran forward to point from a tight angle on the left flank. Dardis turned his man on the left wing before firing over and Paul Rispin slotted over from long range on his left when he cut in from the right. Bobby Lyons goal and the own goal gave the 'Hill a two goal advantage at the interval, 2-5 to 0-5.
Brian Sheridan got the first score of the second half from a free to cut the deficit to five. Dalton got his first score after this with his left foot. With three points already to his name, Brian Ennis had a great chance to score a goal. A ball played in to the full forward left him one on one with the Seneschalstown goalkeeper. Ennis lobbed the ball over his head and over the bar for his fourth point of the day.
Seneschalstown's goal came from their number 7. He cut in from the right wing and bravely avoided the tackle of Tony McDonnell as the ball was played in to the danger area and found the net to bring his tally to 1-1. Brian Sheridan was the only other Seneschaltown player to score in the second half, with his five points bringing his personal tally to seven points.
When Dardis collected possession late on less than twenty metres from goal, he passed the ball over the head of a Seneschalstown defender to Dalton who finished low to the Seneschalstown net.
The win leaves Summerhill on eight points after two wins, two draws and a defeat in the previous rounds.
