Two quick second half points left Oldcastle ten points in front and it looked like game over. However Rathkenny never gave up battling and Jack Gore reduced the gap six minutes into the second half. Two points from Brian Meade narrowed the deficit to seven. Oldcastle were then reduced to fourteen after a second yellow card offence. Christopher Meade sent over a great score and Brian Meade added his fourth of the night to leave five between the sides with ten minutes remaining.
