Banty short-listed in Monaghan

July 31, 2012

Meath manager Seamus McEnaney and selector Martin McElkennon
Seamus McEnaney has been nominated for the vacant managerial position in his native Monaghan.

The name of the current Meath manager - who will make a decision on his future with the Royal County this week - is amongst six nominated for the Monaghan job.

Others nominated include ex- Clontibret manager Declan Brennan and former Monaghan players Declan Loughman, Michael O'Dowd, Kevin Carragher and Bernie Murray.

Banty was manager of the Farney County from 2005 to 2010 before being appointed the first 'outside' manager of Meath.

The Irish Independent speculates that he won't seek an extension of his two year tenure with Meath who exited the championship at the hands of Laois last Saturday.

The Monaghan vacancy arose when Eamonn McEneaney stepped down following their qualifier defeat to the O'Moore County.
