May 16, 2012
Clann na nGael 2-11
St. Patrick's 1-10
Clann na nGael advanced to the Division 4 final with a hard fought victory over St. Pats on Tuesday evening in Athboy.
In the group stages these sides fought out a draw and for long periods this match followed a similar route. There was only a point between the sides at half time with goals from Calum Ennis and Jack Bird keeping the Athboy side ahead by just one point.
The second half began with a St. Pats onslaught but despite having all the possession for a 10 minute period they could not muster a score. Luke Swain from midfield registered the first score of the half and with Darragh Brogan getting more ball, Clann began to get on top going four points clear. However with 10 minutes left St. Pats got a goal to leave the minimum between the sides again. Clann however responded well and with Ronan McDonnacha adding to the scoring Clann ran out four point winners to qualify for a final with Wolfe Tones.
