Comprehensive win for Kilmessan camogs
May 15, 2012
Meath Senior Camogie Championship 3rd Round played in Navan Mon 14th May
Half time score: Kilmessan 2-5 O'Mahony's 0-0
Full time score: Kilmessan 5-11 O'Mahony's 0-0
Kilmessan senior camogie team had a comprehensive victory over Navan O'Mahonys maintaining their unbeaten start to the 2012 senior championship. Despite missing a number of first team regulars they were never troubled in defence and with all six of their forwards scoring from play, the town team had no answer.
Best for Kilmessan were Tracy King at wing back, Laura Irwin at midfield who did an excellent job marshaling county star Lizzie Oakes and the full forward line of Maeve O'Leary, Niamh Carroll and Tara Murphy who between them scored 4-4 from play. Navan had good performances from Susie Gartland at corner back and Hilary Burke in goals who prevented her side from suffering a heavier defeat bringing off a number of quality saves.
In fairness to O Mahonys they too because of injuries, holidays etc were missing a number of regulars and only commenced the game with thirteen players.
