AFL2: Gaeils on top in Grangegodden

Gaeil Colmcille got their fourth win of this A league Division 2 game played in Grangegodden Kells on Saturday evening last.
The Gaeils started well scoring the first four points before Rathtkenny got on the board near the end of the first quarter. Once Rathkenny settled down after a lot of wasted opportunities they levelled things up at 0-04 each. A tight match was on the cards.
Cormac Keegan gave the Kellsmen the lead with an excellent forty five and Danny McGovern finished off the half with a goal leaving the hosts leading by (1-05) to (0-04).
In the second half Keegan landed his second forty five to open the score for the Gaeils. Seamus Mattimoe kicked two quick points while Rathkenny kept trying to get on the scoreboard, but it just didn't happen on the day. Full Forward Martin Barrett starting a goal-scoring spree with his first goal followed up by goals from Danny McGovern, Barrett again and Barry Farrelly. The game was truly over as a contest .and the Gaeils' hunt for promotion is still on the cards.
