Meath produced a good second half performance to defeat neighbours Westmeath in the Leinster Junior Camogie Championship played at a blustery Pairc Tailteann.

Westmeath dominated the early exchanges of the opening half while Meath seemed to be still recovering from their Div 2 league final defeat to Derry the previous week. A brace of points from Dinah Loughlin and a goal from Nicola Fagan pushed the Midlanders 1-2 to 0-1 ahead after 15 mins. Westmeath added further points from Avril Fagan (2) and Loughlin to extend their lead before Lizzie Lynch got in for a Meath goal against the run of play. Westmeath held the advantage at the break, playing with the wind, 1-8 to 1-5.

John Davis' charges took control of the game early in the second half. Jane Dolan had the sides level with a well taken goal. Meath took the lead with a Sinead Hackett point. Playing with the elements Meath began to dominate and a string of points from Hackett (2), Dolan (6) and Aileen Donnelly had the game in the bag after twenty minutes. Westmeath had to wait till the final minutes for their only scores of the half with points from Dinah Loughlin and Pamela Greville.
