Ladies: second win in a week for O'Mahony's

Navan O'Mahonys claimed their second victory in three days when they battled to a four point victory over Moynalvey on Thursday night.
In the wet misty conditions it was the away side who opened the scoring with a point after 3 minutes. The lead lasted ten minutes until O'Mahonys midfielder Laura Flynn netted to get the ball rolling for the home side. However it was the only score the hoops scored in the first-half and Moynalvey slotted over 4 unanswered points to leave a 2 point gap between the teams at the interval. Half-time - O'Mahonys 1-0 Moynalvey 0-5.
The second-half was a hard fought battle with both teams getting stuck in from the start. O'Mahonys started in superb fashion when Helen Mathews found the net however less than a minute later Moynalvey responded with a goal of their own. The home side continued to dig deep and closed the gap to the minimum with a Lauren Patterson point. O'Mahonys then took the lead when Aedin Murray made a superb run through the Moynalvey defence and placed the ball beautifully in the corner of the net. The away side continued to press hard and came close on a number of occasions only to see the ball fall short into the reliable hands of goalkeeper Amanda Murtagh. The hoops continued to threaten and an Eimear Foley goal gave the home side some breathing space going into the final ten minutes. With the home defence on their toes they continued to prevent Moynalvey with any goal chances and they had to settle for one point in the final minutes. To the delight of the home side the referee brought the game to a close with O'Mahonys running out winners. Full back Sarah Powderly gave a sensational performance breaking down numerous attacks that the opposition created with excellent performances also from Laura Flynn, Maria Flynn and Aedin Murray.
