FL4: Veteran Harford inspires Kilbride to victory
May 08, 2012

Kilbride's David Harford
Kilbride travelled to Ardcath to play St Vincents on Sunday in round 7 of the A county league.
Kilbride went into this game minus some of there regulars through injury. Manager Eamonn Clarke went for a more defencive selection moving John Bruton from mid field to defend the edge of the square. He also moved dynamic forward Brian white to centre back and it paid off.
After a lively opening both teams failed to register a score. St Vincents were guilty of kicking some bad wides. Both sets of backs were on top and alot of ball was played in the middle. It took 13 min for the first score to come and it arrived from the boot of young Sullivan from a free for the Ardcath men. Stephen McMullen opened the visitors account from a pointed free. Kilbride were starting to dominate in defence as John Bruton was dominating St Vincents full forward Tommy Fields. Kilbride were moving the ball quite well and should have added more scores but were wasteful in front of goals.
An injury to mid fielder Craig Sheridan forced Kilbride into a change. Kilbride introduced veteran David Harford to the fray. A former St Vincents player was once again back playing where it all started.
It wasn't long before he made an impact when he collected a pass from Jeff Sheridan and from what looked an impossible angle he slotted over Kilbride's second.
St Vincents added a further 2 points as half time approached but Harford was to have the final say of the half when he pointed from a Brian White pass to leave it three each at the break.
After the break St Vincents upped the ante and went ahead with a well taken point.
St. Vincents dominated the early part of the second have and the changes at half time seemed to be working. Craig Sheridan was reintroduced after recovering from an earlier knock and had a immediate impact with a well taken point. This move seemed to drive kilbride on and they were once again dominating in most parts of the field. John Bruton, John Smith, Jeff Sheridan were all excellent as to wass Brian White from centre back. Further points from McMullen and Craig Sheridan had the score, St Vincents 5, Kilbride 7.
Kilbrides full forward line was causing havoc, creating a number of chances. David Harford was rediscovering his kicking skills when he converted a 45,followed shortly after by another two one of which came from a free.Gareth Lynch and McMullen added two more points before St. Vincents got a consolation goal in injury time.
Kilbride were good value for there win and played some good attacking football. Best for the winners were. John Bruton, John Smith, Jeff and Craig Sheridan & David Harford.
