Evans to join Meath backroom team

Roscommon manager John Evans.
Former Tipperary manager John Evans is set to join Seamus McEnaney's backroom team in Meath.

Evans stood down as Premier boss following his side's league loss to Sligo in March. The Killorglin native is a full time coach with Tipperary county board and led the county to successive league promotions in 2008 and '09, as well as a first Munster U21FC title in 2010.

Meath manager McEnaney has been moving to refresh the Meath setup since he withstood a vote of no-confidence by his own county board ten days ago. Joe Sheridan has returned from Boston and a number of new players are being brought into the squad.

The addition of Evans in a coaching capacity will be a big boost to McEnaney, whose management team had been weakened following Paul Grimley's decision to leave his role with the Royals last year.
