SFC : Tones sink the Blacks

Walterstown's Mark McCormack has Wolfe Tones' Stephen Sheppard and Richie Brady for company during the Meath SFC quarter final at Pairc Tailteann

Two goals in quick succession around the midpoint of the opening half set Wolfe Tones on their way to a last four meeting with Summerhill.
Cian Ward set up both goals at the hospital end with Stephen Sheppard netting the first.
Ward's younger sibling Fiachra bagged the second and the board read 2-3 to 0-2.
The margin increased to eight points when the elder Ward sent over from play in the 17th minute.
Christopher Blayney's point with the outside of his boot was the pick of the remaining scores in the opening half which ended with the scoreboard reading 2-6 to 0-5.
Cian Ward's 40th minute goal snuffed out slim Walterstown hopes. When the same played pointed a close range free, it was 3-12 to 0-7 early in the final quarter.
A Sheppard effort from 60 metres that hopped over the Walterstown bar in the 54th minute closed the Tones' account.
Late points from David Donnellan and Mark McCormack softened the look of the scoreboard from Walterstown's perspective.
Within 20 seconds of the off Wolfe Tones hit the front at the hospital end with Alan Fox pointing with assistance from Cian Ward.
Walterstown responded with points from Alban Crosbie (free) and Charles McCarthy.
The 'Tones took over. First Cian Ward leveled things up from a free. Then Eanna Harrington sent over.
Then came the aforementioned goals and Paddy Martin's men were in control thereafter.
