Derek Doran scored 3-6 as champions Kildalkey proved too strong for Longwood in this Ted Murtagh Clothing & Footwear SHC Group B round three fixture at Trim on Saturday evening.

Paddy Conneely and Gary Kelly were the other Kildalkey goalscorers posting 1-3 and 1-2 respectively as the Jubilee Cup holders made it two wins from three outings.

Doran could have had another goal in the early stages but his effort was saved by Longwood 'keeper Alan Ennis at the expense of a 65 which the Kildalkey number 13 pointed.

The Longwood 'keeper did his best to keep his side in contention but was eventually beaten by Doran in the 18th minute and the board read 1-5 to 0-1.

Within a minute Anthony Healy goaled for Longwood. It proved to be only a temporary respite for the team in white and black and by the 28th minute Kildalkey led by nine points.

Longwood pulled back two points before the break from Anthony (free) and Damien Healy and trailed by 1-3 to 1-10 at the interval.

Doran's second goal arrived within four minutes of the restart after Alan Ennis lost his hurley and unsuccessfully tried to kick the sliotar clear.

Doran completed his hat-trick of goals in the 53rd minute with Tony Fox creating the opening.

Three minutes later Anthony Healy got in for his second goal and then pointed a free before Kildalkey completed their tally.

Fergus McMahon marked his return to SHC action by setting up Conneely for his goal in the 58th minute. Kelly's three- pointer came in the last action of stoppage time.

Kildalkey face a scrap with Killyon and Kitlale for the two quarter-final spots on offer in this group.

Longwood's clash with Clann na nGael in the next round could decide which team finishes bottom of this section.
