Rathkenny secured two more points in this Meath Senior Championship Group A game with a two point victory over Walterstown, in Pairc Tailteann on Sunday afternoon.

With all the pundits stating this would be a win for the Blacks, it was Rathkenny who came away with the spoils in a tough encounter. Richie Timmons popped over Rathkennys first score before John Donegan levelled matters on thirteen minutes with a long range free. Two further scores apiece left things all square at the break at four points each. Rathkennys scores coming from Timmons and Brian Meade.

Walterstown opened the second half scoring with a free before county selector Donal Curtis fisted over a minute later to level matters again. Timmons put Rathkenny in front with a 34th minute free before the teams were level once more on the 40th minute mark. Rathkenny opened a two point lead when Brian Meade on 43 and Curtis after a great move popped over on 46 minutes.
