Kildalkey 1-22 Na Fianna 0-8

On a sunny Sunday morning at Kildalkey a youthful Kildalkey Junior team took the points in this Division 5 HL first round match against Na Fianna.

With 6 of last year’s minor team involved and a sprinkling of 20 somethings this team was very young but played some good hurling to record the win .

Jamie Kavanagh got his team up and running with a good point early in the game while Evan Geoeghan hit 3 frees Alex Rickard with 2 and Shay Diggins all getting on the scoresheet to lead 0-7 to 0-5 at the break.

The introduction of Steven Murray for the second half gave Kildalkey a huge boost as he instantly got his first ball and pointed immediately Shay Diggins then ran onto a ball over the top and pointed on the run 

Michael o Donnell was fouled after making a brave catch but The resulting penalty was saved Murray  was proving a constant menace on the ball as he continued to pop over points and was rewarded with a goal for his perseverance further scores from Lee Coldrick Rickard Kavanagh O Donnell and the lively Ross Thompson meant Kildalkey went on to win this game by 1-22 to 0-8 at the full time whistle.

Conor McNally Arron Traynor Liam Carroll and Daire Ryan all done their bit to keep Na Fianna at bay 

Tom McGee and Jamie kavanagh were full of energy in midfield and Shay Diggins Rickard and Murray were lively and full of hurling upfront while it was great to empty the bench and give all subs a run with all doing well when introduced as this team made a perfect start to the League.
