Castletown 5-14  Bective 3-12

Castletown's quest for their first Intermediate title since 1976 continued in Rathkenny with this 8 point victory over Bective making it 4 out of 4 for the men in green and gold. 

Bective made a great start and after 5 minutes were one goal and two points up before on six minutes Killian Price scored a goal for Castletown an attack he started and finished with aplomb. Bective scored 2 points in a row one from play before Kevin Ross scored a 45 to leave it 1-4 to 1-1 with a quarter of an hour played. Bective then hit two in a row from play in the 18th and 21st minutes before Darren Finney scored Castletowns second goal only for in the same minute Bective replied with a goal of their own. After that Castletown scored 1-4 Declan Cribbin with a goal, Tommy Smith 0-2 and a point each from Kevin Ross and Kenny Smith to 2 frees for Bective in reply to leave it all square at the break Castletown 3-5 Bective 2-8.

Castletown's dominance at the end of the first half continued into the second period with three points in a row Barry Smith from play, a free from Kevin Ross and Gerard Farrelly from play to open up a lead that they never relinquished. Bective scored next but Barry Smith cancelled that out from play only for Bective to reply again from a free. Castletown put the game to rest with 1-2 Damien Ginnitty with the goal and two frees from Kevin Ross. Bective hit a point from play on 49 minutes but then Declan Cribbin scored 1-1 first the goal he won a ball in midfield and ran through the Bective defense and buried the ball to the net. Bective then scored their third goal on 55 minutes followed two minutes later with their last score a point from play to Castletowns two remaining points Darren Finney from play and Kevin Ross from a free on 60 minutes to leave the final score 5-14 for Castletown to Bectives 3-12. Castletown are now qualified for the quarter final with the last round game still to play in two weeks time. How a year changes things.
