Seneschalstown   5-14  St Patrick’s   0-10

Seneschalstown had goals on there mind as they overcame St Patrick’s in Donore on Friday evening in the 4th round of the Senior Championship.

Midfielder Niall Hickey scored the first of the Seneschalstown goals on the 2nd minute of the match. This was soon followed by some great scores from play from Cathal Finnegan, Brian Sheridan, Dylan Keating and Alan Mulvany. St Patrick’s got there first scores of the match on the 11th and 12th minutes with 2 points from free. These were quickly cancelled out with points from play from Hickey and Finnegan. The first of Cathal Finnegan’s goals came on the 16th minute after a pass from Sheridan found the back of the net. Finnegan got his second goal immediately after this on the 17th minute followed by a point from play. St Pats kicked over another point from free on the 19th minute. Again, the Yellow Furze side were quick to react and after a pass from Cathal Finnegan, Joe Sheridan found the back of the net in the 21st minute. Finnegan kicked over a point from free. St Pats then kicked over 2 points, one from play and one from free. Brian Sheridan kicked over the last point from free for the first half leaving Seneschalstown up by 15 points.

Seneschalstown started the second half as they did the first with a goal after some great play seen Cathal Finnegan find the back of the net for his 3rd goal of the match. Substitute Joe Moore kicked over a fine point from play on the 36th minute which was soon cancelled out with a point from St Pats. After a collision the game came to a lengthy standstill while physios attended to Seneschalstown Niall Mc Cabe. No risks were taken, and an ambulance was called. Thanks to all involved Niall has made a full recovery. 

The game resumed with the help of the excellent flood lights in Donore. Finnegan slotted over another point from play. Substitute Robert Wogan scored a great point which was soon followed by 2 points from Eoin Finnegan in the last minutes of the match.
