Adam Tuite St Vincents Curraha

St. Vincents/Curraha 5-14 St Pats 1-7

St Vincents Curraha made a winning start to the minor Championship with an impressive win against St Pats at Curraha on Wednesday evening.

The home side were made to work hard early on with plenty hard physical exchanges delivered by their east Meath visitors. This made scoring difficult and Vincents Curraha were wasteful enough in those opening minutes with several efforts drifting wide. They eventually found a way through and opened the scoring through two Diarmuid Moriarty frees which helped to settle things. Michael Young added another point before Niall Andrews found the net for the home side. St Pats responded well and struck for a goal too after an excellent move that easily breeched the St Vincents Curraha defence. The home side added three more points to leave the half time score Vincents Curraha 1-6 to St Pats 1-1.

Assisted by the breeze in the second half Vincents Curraha took complete control from early on. Four goals two each from Ruairi O Sullivan and Denis McEntee finish the game as a contest. The victors showed no mercy as they drilled over points from all angles. Adam Tuite adding five with a Diarmuid Moriarty slicer from a side-line ball possible the pick of the bunch.

Great credit to the St Pats players they never game up. They had outstanding performances from both their midfielders and centre forward.

Best for winners were Matthew Webb, Ben Heagney, Michael Young, James Dillion, Diarmuid Moriarty, Ruairi O Sullivan and Adam Tuite.
